Tough guy, romantic coward, Bob Hoskins became an icon of London lowlife with his roles in The Long Good Friday (1980) and Mona Lisa (1986). His roles now seem to be increasingly self-referential, as in the truly egregious Parting Shots, TwentyFourSeven - which was written with him in mind - and Spice World, in which he had a cameo. - Before he became an actor he was a clown and a ringmaster. He also learned how to do a fire act.
- He'd really like to play a transvestite in the form of his mother.
