  • Details: 2007, USA, Cert 15, 135 mins, Drama, Dir: Todd Haynes

With: Ben Whishaw, Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere

Summary: A conceptually audacious ensemble piece in which six actors portray Bob Dylan as a series of shifting personae, including an 11 year-old boy (Marcus Carl Franklin) and a Greenwich Village folk singer (Christian Bale). The supporting cast also includes Julianne Moore and Charlotte Gainsbourg, and the film is backed by music from Dylan himself and many others.

  • Peter Bradshaw

    3 out of 5

Peter Bradshaw: This is not a conventional biopic but a cine-portrait, casting a string of actors to play the many facets of Bob Dylan

Cate Blanchett in the prime role is predictably brilliant at bringing Bob Dylan to life
